Weekend in review

Photobucket

Weekend rewind. If you want to play along, grab the above button and tell me all about your weekend!

Friday ~ I had John's car, as his brakes were making a horrible grinding sound....it was just safer for him to take my truck to work, as I only had to go out for groceries. I worked on crochet projects for the day. Once John got home, he mowed the lawn and got things ready for him to do his brakes first thing in the morning.

Saturday ~ I made us some turnovers for breakfast, then John went to work on his brakes. After we had dinner we cleared out the kitchen (again), and got ready to start the countertops! Still fearing the unknown.. but you have to start somewhere!

I am so very pleased with how they turned out!!

I also have a video of us working on it:

Sunday ~ church in the morning, then lunch at Bud n Stanely's, a little shopping at Goodwill; then I went to Walmart to pick up an area rug that I found on clearance. After a brief nap, we went back to work in the kitchen. After a light sanding, we started putting on the polyurethane. Its going to take several coats I do believe. We are putting the sink back in place, as I can't go much longer without running water in the kitchen!

Let me know if you play along.

Steecut oats

 photo f52b6f2b-b0f9-418d-b475-36f79adaac44_zps721f74be.jpg

My package arrived from Bzzagent, YaY!! I love opportunities to try new things! I chose to try the blueberries and cranberry flavor of the Quaker Steelcut Oats. I have never tried steelcut oats before, so I didn't know what to expect. This has a real hearty texture, with the hint of blueberries and cranberries. I wish there were little more berries in the packets.

I wish you could smell this, as it has a very nice aroma! The second day trying this out, I tried using two packets, but wasn't happy with it, as it didn't thicken up real well. So I will stick to making one packet at a time. I have some coupons that I will be giving to family and friends so they can try it out as well!

Snackeez review

 photo 3d71fa6a-7879-412b-bafd-914b247e5f8b_zps59321ec7.jpg

I was given the opportunity to do a review for this amazing cup, Snackeez! Where oh where was this when I was doing daycare!?! I love the 2 in 1 concept! It makes taking fruit to work so much easier now! I can keep it cold, with all the ice I have in the drink portion of the cup! The drink portion holds 16 oz of your favorite drink and the snack bowl holds 4 oz of the snack of your choice!

Snackeez! are durable, BPA free, and top-rack dishwasher safe, so clean up is a breeze. Snackeez! retails for $9.99 and can be purchased online and at Bed Bath & Beyond, CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Walmart and more. They come in 4 fun colors and a hinged, flip-top lid snaps securely shut to keep snacks fresh and in the cup.

Researching

I am back on the "get healthy" kick, and researching out products and items to use. I know several people who get B12 shots, and while looking into that I came across an article talking about natural b17. Not sure if they are similar or not, but will look into it further.

I don't like taking lots of pills and what nots, but if it helps in aiding in my successful weight loss, the I will give it a try!

New York Trip

I have been working on a photo book from out New York vacation, and think I have it how I want it. Now to get it to the overnight print shop to see how much its going to cost to print. I had a coupon for a free book from one of those online sites, but can't find it anywhere. I thought when I went into clean mode I would find it, but no such luck! I am going to dig a little deeper, maybe I put it in the file with all of the new things we purchased over the last few months.

I am hoping that this book turns out nice, and if it does, then that's what I am going to with all of my other pictures. I have given up on the traditional scrapbooking, as I just don't have the time or the creativity anymore.

Cell phone renewal soon

Hubby can renew his contract in a few months and get get a new phone. We are trying to figure out which one to go with. Do we go with a smart phone like a samsung htc, or do we go with the basic cheapy one (that has a qwerty keyboard), that has the option of buy one get one free, so we can add Trent to our plan? More than likely it will be the latter, as I am too cheap.

I would love to have an iPhone, but do I really need to have the option of internet on my phone?!?!

Do you remember?

Do you remember making modge podge plaques? I was browsing some craft blogs/sites, and saw someone posted about modge podge. I remember making a few of these way back when, while I was in Camp Fire girls. I couldn't tell what we actually did, but I remember how much fun it was. I may have to try this out again, and see if I could come up with a cute craft idea to add to a craft booth I want to do this fall. So many ideas running through my head, just need to get them written down and follow through with it!

Book Review ~ Judgement Day by Wanda L. Dyson

Photobucket

I was excited to get this book, I have read a few of her books in the past and really like her style of writing. At first the book started out a little slow, but once I got into it, it was a page turner. With these suspense/thriller books, I try to figure out the plot before I actually read it, but this one I was second guessing myself all the way to the end.

You can purchase it from WaterBrook Multnomah, or from where ever you purchase your books.

Dug Down Deep ~ book review

Photobucket

I really enjoyed this book. God works in mysterious ways, as this has been a message I keep hearing about... "Digging deeper". We are doing a life builder series at our church, so this book is making me dig a little deeper.  There was a question that really made me stop and think:  "Do you love the Cross because it makes much of you?  or Do you love it because it enables you ot enjoy an eternity of making much of God? Wow!  How powerful is that?  It has helped me get back on track with my walk with Christ.

Synopsis

What will you build your life on?

With startling transparency, Joshua Harris shares how we can rediscover the relevance and power of Christian truth. This is book shows a young man who rose quickly to success in the Christian evangelical world before he realized his spirituality lacked a foundation—it rested more on tradition and morality than on an informed knowledge of God.

For the indifferent or spiritually numb, Harris's humorous and engaging reflections on Christian beliefs show that orthodoxy isn't just for scholars—it is for anyone who longs to know the living Jesus Christ. As Harris writes, "I've come to learn that theology matters. It matters not because we want to impress people, but because what we know about God shapes the way we think and live. Theology matters because if we get it wrong then our whole life will be wrong."

Whether you are just exploring Christianity or you are a veteran believer finding yourself overly familiar and cold-hearted, Dug Down Deep will help you rediscover the timeless truths of Scripture. As Harris challenges you to root your faith and feelings about God in the person, work, and words of Jesus, he answers questions such as:

What is God like and how does he speak to me?What difference does it make that Jesus was both human and divine? How does Jesus's death on the cross pay for my sins?Who is the Holy Spirit and how does he work in my life?
With grace and wisdom, Harris will inspire you to revel in the truth that has captured his own mind and heart. He will ask you to dig deep into a faith so solid you can build your life on it. He will point you to somethingto believe in again.

It goes on sale Jan. 19th, so look for it at your favorite book store like Barnes and Noble or Amazon.com.
