NLT Illustrated Study Bible review

This edition of the NLT Illustrated Study Bible, which Tyndale House kindly sent me to review. I am in awe of this version of the Bible. I love the the first page of each book, in how it has a summary and Meaning and Message section. All of the illustrations, and behind the texts passages are so helpful in really understanding the Bible. I love all of the footnotes, maps and the concordance (which my current Bible doesn't have).

I am going to fully enjoy reading and studying with this NLT Study Bible.

The Burn ~ book review

 photo book_zpsjze7aseq.jpg
From the back of the book:
"The Burn offers three nutrition programs strategically engineered to achieve highly speci?c results.

I-BURN for Inflammation
Targets the body’s inflammatory reactions to food and flushes out toxins.

I-Burn
Your body needs the 3-day I-Burn if you:

– Have puffy bags and/or dark circles under your eyes
– Are having trouble getting your rings off at the end of the day
– Have fat accumulating around your lower back and hanging over your pants
– Are dehydrated, even though you keep drinking water
D-BURN for Digestive Dysfunction
Unblocks the body’s digestion, creating a flat belly and tighter hips and thighs.

D-Burn

Your body needs the 5-day D-Burn if you:

– Notice bloating after eating meals
– Have heartburn or indigestion once a week or more often
– Have fat stores that feel hard and dense, and have a protruding stomach or thick hard rolls around your waistline

H-BURN for Hormone Imbalances
Stabilizes the body’s natural hormone production and regulatory systems.

H-Burn

Your body needs the 10-day H-Burn if you:

– Are losing hair at the crown of your head or growing it in weird places
– Have rapidly gained weight that refuses to budge
– Are feeling moody, irritable, or weepy
– Have high cholesterol"

My thoughts on this book: The author is pretty detailed with all of the step by step plans for the 3, 5 or 10 day eating plans that can help you if you have inflammation, digestive or hormonal issues. She even gives out grocery lists for each plan, that will not break your budget! Which is a plus for me.

I did the drop 3 in 3 plan, and love the results! It helped diminish the horrible bags/dark circles I have been dealing with here as of late! I can't wait to read more in depth of the 10 day plan, to see if it will really help with the hormonal issues I am dealing with.

Check out this book, if you are in that "I'm in a rut, with my diet", it might just be the boost you need to kick start your metabolism again!

I received this book from blogging for books to do a review.

Book Review ~ Courageous by Randy Alcorn

Photobucket

From the back of the book:

"As law enforcement officers, Adam Mitchell, Nathan Hayes, and their partners willingly stand up to the worst the world can offer. Yet at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood. While they consistently give their best on the job, good enough seems to be all they can muster as dads. But they're quickly discovering that their standard is missing the mark.

They know that God desires to turn the hearts of fathers to their children, but their children are beginning to drift farther and farther away from them. Will they be able to find a way to serve and protect those who are most dear to them?

When tragedy hits home, these men are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, their faith, and their fathering. Can a new found urgency help these dads draw closer to God...and to their children?"

What a great book! I love when I read a book, that just sucks me in and makes me feel like I know the characters, as if they were my friends. I laughed, I cried my way though this book. The resolution the dads made to be the fathers God intended them to be, is a must for every father, and mothers for that fact as well!

I can't wait to see the movie in a week, when it comes out!

I want to thank Tyndale House Publishers for my complimentary copy of this book for review purposes.

Book Review ~ When Sparrows Fall by Meg Moseley

Photobucket

When I first started reading this book, I couldn't tell if it was set in modern time or back in the day, but soon realized it was modern time. The way Miranda was "brainwashed" made me so mad at this so called "pastor", and her deceased husband.

I love when Jack came in to the picture and showed the kids what the world had to offer them. You could almost feel the kids excitement when they went through the car wash, and then the joy of getting to wash his car over and over again.

I really liked they way this book ended.

Book review ~ The One Day Way by Chantel Hobbs

Photobucket

I just finished reading "The One Day Way" book by Chantel Hobbs. I like her way of approaching the dreaded diet... take it one day at a time. Don't dwell on the mistakes or setbacks from the day before, today is a new day, so make the best of it.

She talks about her 10 commandments for weight loss and Get fit for life, while I would have a hard time with the first one for weight loss, as I struggle to just get in 1200 calories per day, the rest I would have no problem with. She even breaks down how many calories each of your meals should be for the day, and shares a menu plan for a week to get you started.

So if you are looking for a new way to look at dieting, give this book a read.

Book Review ~ Judgement Day by Wanda L. Dyson

Photobucket

I was excited to get this book, I have read a few of her books in the past and really like her style of writing. At first the book started out a little slow, but once I got into it, it was a page turner. With these suspense/thriller books, I try to figure out the plot before I actually read it, but this one I was second guessing myself all the way to the end.

Book Review ~ The Canary List by Sigmund Brouwer

Photobucket

I didn't know what to think when I first started reading this book. It seemed like it was going to be more of a "darker" kind of book than I am used to reading. I felt bad for all the things Crockett had to go through while trying to help out his student. All the talk about demons was a turn off for me, as I don't really believe in all that. But the speculation about the Catholic church had me intrigued and makes me wonder if it really has any truth to hidden cover ups.

Book Review ~ Sisterchicks in Wooden Shoes by Robin Jones Gunn

Photobucket

What a great book! After reading this book it reminded me of all the fun times I have had with my own "sisterchick" relationship with my best friend.

I can only imagine what Summer felt when she received that phone call giving her the results of her mammogram. I too would have jumped at the chance to go on a unplanned, unexpected trip for a week to spend with a friend.

I liked how along the way on their journey through the Netherlands that they each worked through their own pain and allowed God to work in their hearts.

Very good read!

Book Review ~ Deadly Ties by Vicki Hinze

Photobucket

This book took me a little bit to get into, as it jumps between characters, and one section was kind of boring to me, but once I got past that, the characters drew me in. Just when you think the books going to end a certain way, it takes you one more more twist. I like how they showed a start of a new love interest, that will be coming out in the next book by this author!

About This Book

HER ENEMY WILL STOP AT NOTHING FOR CONTROL…
SHE WILL RISK EVERYTHING FOR FREEDOM.

A horrific crime shatters Lisa Harper’s idyllic childhood. Her father is dead and her desperate mother, Annie, quickly marries Dutch Hauk, an abusive monster who soon reveals his hatred for Lisa. To protect her, Annie defies her ruthless husband and forfeits custody to a trusted friend. Enraged, Dutch vows to keep Annie and Lisa apart—and he does. Years later, though keenly aware of Dutch’s evil intent, Lisa and her mother seize a chance to be a family, safe in a home where love dwells. But they fail to fathom how far Dutch will go to keep his vow.

Determined to control his women, Dutch proves resourceful. His associates in crime are feared at the highest levels across the globe—and for Lisa they plan a fate worse than death. Yet she too has formidable connections, including former Special Operations Officer Mark Taylor. Burdened by his own traumatic past, Mark has loved Lisa from afar. Now, for Lisa and her mother to survive, Mark must risk his life—and even more difficult for him, he must trust God. All as one question haunts them: Can Mark and Lisa untangle these deadly ties before it’s too late?
