The reveal

Its time!! Time for what, you ask. Well, the reveal of my craft room makeover! This has been a room in progress since Christopher moved out, moved back home and then back out again! When he moved back home he was told that he would have to live with the purple walls, as I was not going to let him repaint them.

What the walls looked like before I started, and then primed

With the purple paint, and the tables I was using at the time; the rocker before and after redoing the cushions (I still have to paint this white, and possible redo the cushions, to add more padding)

Sewing, a new adventure

I want to take some sewing classes, so I can branch out in my hobbies! I would love to make my own clothes, but I can't sew a straight line to save my life! The only piece of clothing I made was a baseball shirt, but that was back in middle school (oh so many years ago).

I have a few patterns that are screaming for me to open up and tackle the unknown! One day soon I am going to open them up and actually make a beautiful piece of clothing! One day!

Pillow makeover

My project for today was to recover some pillows for Trent's room. I was going to go out and buy some black and gray fabric, but had a brilliant idea of to reuse his old comforter to recover the pillows. I think they turned out great.

Pillows

I need to find a pattern/directions for one of those neck pillows, that you fill with rice or beans, that you can throw in the microwave to heat up. I used to have one, but I have no clue where it is.

I could use it, as I have a stress headache and the tension in my neck is killing me. I may have to do some digging on the internet, and see what I come up with! I need to break out the sewing machine, as I have the craft bug going on right now!

The crocheting is fun, but I need a break for a bit, but still want to make things.

Embroidery

Sewing is still one thing I want to take some lessons in, as I would love to know how to make my own clothes and what nots. I have a friend who does lots of embroidering on clothes, that looks really nice. I know those machines are expensive, but if I could save my hubby's company some money in doing their embroidery on their carhartt jackets, it will all be worth it in the end. Once my training is over with and things settle down a bit, I am going to look into some classes.

By the time I get to the point of doing this, and being good at it, it will be time for the NEXT winter season to be here. Yeah, I'm a slow learner in things like this!

Sewing, hmmm

I have been asked if I could sew, um... a little (very little) bit. I can't sew a straight line to save my life! I have always wanted to make my own clothes, but I just can't get the hang of sewing. I am not really sure why they were asking me, as I know they could find plus size dresses cheaper in the stores than I could make; fabric is expensive!

As it is, I have a pile that is continuing to grow of things the guys are asking me to fix for them. I haven't had the time to actually get out the sewing machine with this new job. But I will have to get to it eventually as they are running out of jeans. What is it with the jean manufactures not making jeans like they used to!!? Out of the 5 pairs of jeans in the pile, each need to have the pockets resewn!

Sewing

I wish I had a natural talent for sewing, as I would love to make some hip hop clothes. I have a pattern for some purses that I want to try, as they don't look too hard, then I will go from there.

I still get the heebie jeebies when I get out the sewing machine after I had a needle break off and go through my eye. You would think that after all this time I would be over it by now, but that fear when I was in sixth grade comes back like it was yesterday. One day, I will be able to sew with ease and no care in the world... or at least I hope!

Minnie Mouse

I am on the hunt for anything Minnie Mouse. I have a birthday party to go to next weekend for a special little girl. Right now she is all about Minnie Mouse. I am hoping to find some toys r us coupons so I can go shopping there for a gift. I'm all about coupons and scoring a great deal!

I have some scrapbook stuff that I am going to try and make a cute card. I am rusty on this, as its been a while since I have scrapped. I have a pattern for a small purse, that I would love to find the right material with Minnie on it to make her one, just not sure if I want this to be my first sewing project like this.

Photobucket

It would be the smaller one at the bottom. She could use it more so as a diaper bag for her babies, as opposed to a purse. I could fill it up with cute little things I find from Toys r Us! Oh the fun of shopping for little girls!!

My new tote

I received my new tote in the mail today! Isn't it cute!!

Photobucket

Samatha over at Sew N Time made it for me. I wish I was this good at sewing, as I would love to make a few more in different colors! I am going to have to do some practicing to be this good!

Starting early

I always say that I am going to get a jump on my Christmas gifts, and usually I procrastinate and then have to cram everyone of them in last minute. But this year, I am going to do it. I don't want to be rushed, as that is when I tend to make mistakes.

I want to try my hand at some sewing projects, as I want to learn more about my sewing machine, and if I have to take some classes then I will. I saw some "adult bibs" at a craft show this past summer, so I want to try and make a few of them to have on hand when we are at the inlaws for family dinners when spaghetti is on the menu, so the towel/bibs don't have to come out.

I am thinking about getting my inlaws some barska binoculars, as the ones they have now don't do a great job for them. They are really into bird watching now, so I think this will be a great present for them.

For both my hubby and father inlaw I want to make some golf club covers. I have been talking about doing this for a few years now, so this is the year I will get them made! (I hope!)

Tag blanket

I whipped this up yesterday for my friend's soon to be new grand daughter. Just wish I was going to California next week to deliver it in person, but the money just wasn't in the cards!

maybe

If I can whip up a fun lotion, I should be able to come up with a natural acne treatment don't ya think? I am in a creative mood, so this should be fun!

I have lots of projects going right now, from knitting to sewing to making up new concoctions! The knitting projects seem to be a never ending, as I keep starting and stopping them. Trent thinks I will never finish the sock monkey for him, but I will just to prove him wrong! I hope the one baby item I am making turns out like how I have it pictured in my head.

Flash backs!

I have the sewing machine all ready to do to hem up some jeans, and while testing out a new stitch, the needle comes loose. All I can see if/feel is that needle going through my eye, like it did way back in the day of my middle school years. Thankfully it didn't happen this time, I caught it, an fixed the problem, but talk about scaring me! I finished up the sewing, but had that "fear" in my throat that something was going to happen!

Sewing

I finally bought some fabric to recover my cushions on my rocker. I had no idea as to how I was going to go about doing this project, so I grabbed an energy drink, took my vitamins and dove in feet first.

This is the before
Photobucket

and the after
Photobucket

I had leftover fabric, so I made a cushion for my folding chair. I want to get some white fabric and make a slip cover to go over the folding chair to make it look a little cuter, but with that, I think I will need some sort of pattern to go by, as winging it, isn't an option. I want it to look good.

Sunday ramblings

Today I wanted to go for a drive after church, but plans were changed after the hubby woke up to find a flat tire. He used the air compressor to get enough air in it to hold until after church (or so he thought). He went out and checked the tire half way through service to find it flat. We tried the spare, but that was flat as well (he never thought to check that, as he had never used it since getting the car). So we took the tire to the gas station to pump it up to get him back home.

We then stopped at Belle Tire, as they were having a sale on tires, only to find out AFTER purchasing the said tires, that they weren't open for installation. Grrrr So we scrambled to figure out what were going to do for tomorrow, as we both needed cars, he to work, and me to take T to school. After lunch the hubs called his dad to ask some business questions that later led into a discussion about the car, to which we are now borrowing his Tahoe for the day/night.

So off we went to their house to get it. I hadn't planned on staying long, as I don't like driving at night out by their place, with all the deer. Its never a quick stop over there though. They tried feeding us, as usual, but we refused. We watched a show on the history channel about Al Capone, which for some reason led into talks about diets, and if we had heard about this diet, chromium picolinate for weight loss. John's aunt had mentioned it to them. Never heard of it. I am assuming that this is for my mother in law, as my father in law is still needed to regain back all of his weight since his illness.

I finally said I was heading home, as I had some work to do, and wanted to finish sewing a project so I could get it stuffed in the morning. On the way home, I came up over the first hill from their house only to see 10 deer in the road, and they weren't moving for nothing. So the whole way home I drove really slow. I really hate this time of year out in the country! Still waiting for my hubby to get home!

Time to do some shopping...

... for my new room that is! I finally finished my new craft room and want to find lots of cutesy things to put in it. I have been checking out all the sales, as I am all about finding the best deals!

One of my splurges I want to get is a small flat screen TV so I can still enjoy all of my shows while working on my scrapbooking or sewing. I did get a nine cubicle storage unit yesterday, that I put together all by myself. I was quite proud of myself.

My other splurge I want to invest in is some new lens for my digital camera. This will take me a while to save up for this splurge, but its definitely on my wish list. A video camera would be a bonus as well. I will have a nice long wish list to give to my hubby for Christmas. He won't have any excuse as to what to get me this year!

I also need a sewing kit, to hold all of my sewing supplies and fabric. Its a good thing I have a nice walk in closet to store all of the deals that will yet to be found when I am out shopping! I guess I have better look into getting a part time job, as I love to shop!!

Work in progress

Its almost time to start working on getting my new hobby room! The oldest picks up his keys to his apartment on Monday. Then it will be all all about getting his stuff out, moving Trent's stuff into Christopher's old room, and all of my scrapbook supplies, yarn supplies and sewing stuff into the room! I was looking at the ceiling fan in Trent's room and its got to go! While the room isn't big enough, I would love to have one of those a href="http://www.lightingshowplace.com/brand/Casablanca">Casablanca fans. So cool! But for now, I will try and clean up the fan and make the best of it!

Scrapbook, sewing and knitting room, oh my!

A room of my own! Yay!! I will finally be getting my hobby room back in place! I have many ideas of how I want to decorate. One of the first things I plan on doing is splitting off the cable from my bedroom (I can do this now that Trent will be moving to the other bedroom), and will be looking into an HDTV flat screen to put in there. I don't want to miss out on any of my favorite shows while busy working on all my projects! I would love to get another DVR box, but don't think I can justify the added expense to our already stretched budget with me not working anymore.

Stay tuned to further updates, hopefully with before and after pictures!

Quilting

I want to learn how to make quilts. My cousin has been making them for years now, and I have been begging her to show me how. I just need to find the time when I can get up to her place for her to show me. I have made a few blankets, by just sewing some blocks together, but want to know how to do the real quilting.

I thought for sure with this last month of me being off, I would have had time to get over there, but the days just flew on by! Ugh! Maybe over the winter I will find the time.

Home improvements

Home projects are going to start again, oh joy! We have to finish up the bathroom, repair the hole in the wall, then re-doing the floor and painting. I am hoping to tackle our room, as its still the only room in the house that has yet to be re-done. John is working on some shelves for me, got to love a handy man! The curtains I made a while back are ok, but I want to make some new ones.

If we can get the oldest to move out, I can re-do his room and make it my craft room, or a game/TV room Or maybe a combination of both. I have wanted a surround sound system for a while and this would be the perfect room for it. But then again, the hubby might just want to have it down in the living room. We will have to fight it out to see who wins.

So many changes we want to get done in the house, so its ready to be put on the market in the spring. Hopefully there won't be any construction then, as I don't know if we will wait it out to put it on like we had to do this time around.

I am hoping for some nice holiday sales will be going on this weekend, so we can get all of our supplies to get started on the projects.
