Saturday 9 ~ Come Saturday Morning

You can see the others that participate in this fun meme at
Saturday 9.

Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Come Saturday Morning (1969)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) What are your plans for this Saturday morning? Going out for breakfast with the hubs, then a trip to Home Depot to pick up the trim to finish up the flooring in my craft room... then the fun of putting all my stuff back in there!

2) In this song, a man sings of going away for the day with a friend. Where did you go on your last day trip? hmmm, probably when the hubs and I went for a drive and ended up at some antique shops on the other side of the state last summer

3) The lyrics say, "we will remember long after Saturday's gone." What's something you've done recently that you predict you'll remember for a long time to come? the road trip I took with my best friend for my 50th

4) This song was the Oscar-nominated theme from the movie The Sterile Cuckoo. What's the first movie song that pops into your head? Hopefully Devoted to You ~ I just finished watching Olivia Newton John's movie that I DVR'd on Lifetime

5) In the movie, Liza Minnelli played Mary Ann Adams, an eccentric girl everyone called "Pookie." Have you ever been known by a memorable nickname? Who gave it to you? Mama Jo (or Jodi), friends on a moms board started calling me that as I was the oldest one on the group... and then Sweetie from the hubs

6) Today's group began their career as The Grads. Recording artist/producer Herb Alpert liked their sound but hated their name. Alpert picked "sandpiper" at random out of the dictionary. Do you still have and use a bound dictionary? Or do you rely on the internet for word searches and spelling? I don't think we even have a dictionary in the house anymore... so its the internet

7) The biggest news story of 1969, the year this song was popular, was one of the biggest news stories of all time. On July 20, Neil Armstrong stepped foot on the moon. Other than the moon landing, what's the most consequential event that you've seen in your lifetime. How do you feel it changed America, and the world? 9-11 - I was talking with a friend on the phone and was shocked and scared all at the same time.. I wanted to go get my boys from school! It has everyone on edge, and fear of the unknown. So many security checks at various locations. I know that I am more leary and or cautious of things that I do now.

8)1969 was a big year for music festivals, with Atlanta, Toronto and Woodstock all holding famous fests. Have you visited Georgia, Ontario or New York (state)? I have driven through Georgia. I have been to Ontario a few times with school for a group trip to the Stratford Shakespearean Festival of Canada. And I have been to New York a few times as well: once for work a long time ago when we went to a bakery school, then when the hubs and I took our oldest to Niagara Falls, then a few years ago when the hubs and I took the youngest to New York City (this I want to do again, but just the two of us, and make it a longer stay, and possible go at Christmas time).

9) Random question -- According to some plant enthusiasts, house plants do better when they're spoken to. Do you talk to your plants? I don't have any live plants in the house... I can't keep them alive... so its all fake plants for me.

I watched that Lifetime movie, too. Walked around humming, "Physical" all day! :)

  3. It was 9/11 for me too. Gosh was I scared during that time...and the nightmares. I was guilty of watching too much news coverage. I had to stop so the nightmares would stop. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend!

  7. New Your City would be beautiful at Christmas. I hope you get to go.
9-11 was a huge shock. I think it's changed the whole world. I'm so glad that they grounded all the airplanes across the country. Though, I do know, through a trusted source, that some big wigs flew out going to Saudi Arabia. I didn't doubt it.

  8. Ohhhhh, an antiquing road trip with my hubs sounds like fun! We're still relatively new to Alabama; now that I'm retired, there's no excuse. Love listening to Olivia Newton John!
