Silent Night
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times

Saturday 9: Silent Night (1957)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) How well do you know "Silent Night?" Without looking up the lyrics, could you sing along with Elvis? I can, one of my favorite songs
2) The Christmas with Elvis album hit the stores in October 1957. Were you already preparing for Christmas back in October? nope... the older I have gotten, the less I have to do/shop for so I am usually just waiting until the last minute...lol
3) Clearly Elvis liked a flocked white Christmas tree. Is your tree flocked, aluminum or pine green? Real or artificial? Or do you skip the whole tree thing altogether? No flocked tree here, its a pine green artificial tree.
4) Back in the late 1950s, Elvis left his hair its natural brown color. In the 1960s he began having it dyed black. Do you have a salon appointment scheduled between now and year end? I do not, but am thinking about possible getting mine cut before I leave for Florida on the 27th.
5) Have you ever peeked, looking for a Christmas gift you know is hidden for you somewhere in the house? I have....shhhhhhh
6) Which do you prefer, candy canes or gingerbread? candy canes
7) Is anyone receiving a home made or do-it-yourself gift from you this year? yep...its a part homemade part store bought
8) Do you wrap holiday gifts in paper, or do you take the gift bag route? I am more the gift bag route these days!
9) This time of year is big for charitable fundraising. Here's your chance to plug a cause or organization that's near and dear to you. I don't have any that are near and dear to my heart... the one I donate to every year is the toys for tots.

I'm a big fan of Toys for Tots, too. I love dropping a toy in the bin (this year it was one of those yellow Minions) and thinking of Santa handing it to some kid who will love it.
ReplyDeleteI'm soon off to Florida, too.
When the boys were little I would have them pick out a gift and have them drop it in the bins.... and now I usually get 3 or 4 gifts to donate. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteMerry Christmas and enjoy your trip to Florida!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you as well! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI didn't even think that the Angel Tree donations I made fit into #9! I usually choose older kids or teens because I feel like I understand what they need (I teach high school) so I can put in some fun stuff as well as some necessary stuff.
ReplyDeleteI have done the Angel Tree in the past, and I too like picking out for the older kids. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI know what you mean about shopping less when you get older. Thank goodness I am done with the toy thing more than anything.
ReplyDeleteI have missed buying toys lately... but now with the 2 new great nephews on each side of the family I can start shopping for them!! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI think you're the only one who knows all the words to Silent Night. I can get through the second verse but after that, nope.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up with a grandmother that came over every Saturday to do her laundry it was normal to hear her humming or singing out hymms... and always the Christmas ones this time of year and Silent Night was sung by her most often, it has been permanently embedded in my brain! Thanks for stopping by!
Delete5 is so cute!
ReplyDeleteToys for Tots is a great charity!
We do gift bags on Christmas Eve, the only time we exchange gifts for this holiday. Before it was a VERY BIG deal to make a glorious presentation of it. Now it's, "Meh"!
I have never grown out of peeking! LOL Thanks for stopping by!
